The historic Aitkin Butler Building will host two special performances from some of Minnesota’s most popular local bands – The YoYo Mamas and the Papa, and the Mississippi Fireflies – as part of its Farmers’ Market entertainment series.
The YoYo Mamas and the Papa, an all cello musical group hailing from Minnesota, will perform first on Saturday, August 19. Inspired by the great Cellist Yo Yo Ma, the band founded 16 years ago was started by a number of women who sought to create a unique musical experience using their cellos as the centerpiece of their music. The Papa was added in 2016.
The exclusive free concert will be held outside the Aitkin Butler Building (301 Minnesota Avenue North) during the Aitkin Farmers’ Market, which runs from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The annual Farmers’ Market features an assortment of items including garden fresh produce, eggs, baked goods, jams and jellies, live plants, yarn and wool products, handmade crafts and soaps, syrup, flowers and herbs.
In addition to the special performances from The YoYo Mamas and the Papa, and the Mississippi Fireflies the following week, the 2017 Aitkin Farmers’ Market entertainment lineup also includes a variety of other fun and educational community events.
