August yields not only some of the summer’s freshest seasonal finds, but a week commemorating local farmers’ markets across the country with National Farmers’ Market Week.
This year, the Original Aitkin Farmers’ Market, located at Butler’s in Aitkin, MN, is celebrating its 6th year and will celebrate National Farmers’ Market Week from August 4-10, with an abundance of fresh seasonal produce and more on display by local Minnesota farmers.
Some of the fresh vegetables in season in August include greens such as broccoli, brussels sprouts and cabbage, as well as cucumbers, celery, spinach, lettuce, squash and green beans.
Other veggies featured at the Original Aitkin Farmers’ Market every Saturday include carrots, peppers, beets, cauliflower and eggplant, as well as peas, corn, leeks, onions, potatoes, zucchini, radishes, and turnips.
